CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATION TO ESTABLISH EMPLOYMENT LIST FOR THE CITY OF
KETTLE FALLS POLICE DEPARTMENT
OPEN COMPETITIVE EXAMINATION
REQUIREMENTS: To take the appropriate examination and qualify for probationary
appointment as a Lateral Patrolman, you must:
1. Have successfully completed the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission’s Basic
Law Enforcement Academy (or equivalency) or, must have completed the basic academy of any
state and be eligible to attend the equivalency academy.
2. By 4:00 p.m. Friday, November 30, 2007 file with the Civil Service Commission a completed
application and resume
3. Be a citizen of the United States and be able to read and write the English language.
4. Be at least 21 years old at time of appointment.
5. Have uncorrected vision of at least 20-40 in each eye, OR corrected to 20-20 and normal color vision.
6. Have graduated from high school and be able to present a diploma or certificate of GED.
7. Have a valid vehicle operator’s license.
8. Sign a waiver agreeing to an investigation of your background by the Civil Service Commission
and/or the Kettle Falls Police Department.
9. Attain an accumulative score of 70% or better on the tests administered by the Commission;
successfully pass a background investigation and pre-employment drug screening; pass a medical
examination at time of appointment as well as psychological and/or polygraph exam(s), if required,
and other testing as determined necessary.
2007 Salary Range: $44,500.00
EXAMINATION: The civil service examination will consist of a resume review, oral interview, and
writing exercise. Each portion will be scored and the combined scores will determine the applicant’s
placement on the eligibility list.
